Over the past three years, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has led a digital safety campaign across Southeast Asia to combat cyber threats, promote cybersecurity awareness, and encourage safe online practices.
These initiatives aim to:
- Empower individuals with online safety tips and best practices.
- Enhance cybersecurity education to prevent cybercrime and fraud.
- Promote responsible digital behavior through advocacy programs.
With increasing risks like phishing attacks, data breaches, and online scams, UNODC’s campaign plays a crucial role in protecting internet users and building a safer digital environment.

We have achieved over 30 million online reach campaigns through strong collaborations with our media partners, effectively engaging audiences across multiple platforms. Our ability to tailor content to regional contexts ensures that our initiatives resonate deeply, fostering meaningful engagement and social impact at scale across Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Laos, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

With a deep understanding of Southeast Asia’s diverse cultural and linguistic landscape, our team has experience executing multi-national projects. We specialize in localizing content, adapting strategies to regional contexts, and fostering cross-border collaboration, ensuring that each initiative is both culturally relevant and impactful.

Beyond raising awareness, we have developed infographics, social media posts, stories, and animated videos to support UNODC partner organizations in training and capacity-building efforts.
These materials are designed to be visually engaging, accessible, and adaptable, ensuring that key messages on cybersecurity, digital safety, and responsible technology use are effectively communicated and integrated into real-world applications, especially for cybercrime in southeast asia.

To make the digital safety campaigns more meaningful and impactful, we have opened public participation through a silent comic contest. By inviting artists from Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Malaysia, we aim to turn awareness into action by encouraging creative storytelling to educate communities about online scams, phishing, and job fraud. This approach not only raises public awareness but also fosters active engagement and deeper learning, making the campaign more relatable and memorable.

Every UNODC Cybercrime in Southeast Asia regional campaign—including #RansomAware, #KnowScam, and #TechSafeSpace—is designed not only to raise awareness but also to foster collaboration and capacity-building among key stakeholders.
To maximize impact and accessibility, each UNODC regional campaign—including #RansomAware, #KnowScam, and #TechSafeSpace—features a campaign summary video that captures key insights, expert discussions, and major takeaways.
